The Jakester

Jake has been a fabulous addition to our lives. We've come to the conclusion that he's definitely Lab and Mastif because he follows us around wherever we go and he's completely laid back at the same time.
Jake likes to run and play with other dogs - especially Stitch, his best friend and favorite French Bulldog. Here they are frolicking through Aunt Abbey's back yard and stirring up mischief as they run into the field behind her house. When Jake is with Stitch, he likes to ignore his mama.

Doesn't it look like they're saying "c'mon, let's go into the field and run and run so no one can see us!" I think Stitch has a French accent as well and says things like "we we" when he means yes and "sacrebleu!" when he's been caught running too far into the field.

Jake's a good puppy though and knows when to say when. Daddy here trying to give him some of his "Daddy Pop" but Jake abstains because he knows he's not old enough yet.

Most of the time though, he likes to sit on his bed and play with his toys. He can look scary and menacing; but he's a complete softie - he'd rather lick you and nibble on your toes!
Don't my boys look B.A. here? We are very lucky to have such a great doggie!

New addition!

Everyone welcome Jake! He's our new addition. Sunday, we headed to the Humane Society to take a gander at the doggies. Adam was like a little kid hanging outside the bathroom as I was getting ready, hurrying me up to go look.

You can see how happy Adam is to have his new bff (well, I'm the #1 bff, but when I'm not around....).

We looked. We fell in love. We added a new family member to our new house. It was a thorough discussion - What do we do with our pristine new floors? What happens when he chews through the new furniture? Will he be house broken? What about when we leave town?

But all of those questions were answered as we deliberated over Jake. When we walked through, he stared up at us with that big tongue and we couldn't say no. He is a total laid back pup; yes, pup - all 55 lbs of him. Only 6 months old. He's going to be huge and yet, we're big fans. He's a chow/mastif mix with a little bit of lab with his webbed feet. There will be some training to be done (Adam's job), but he knows his name, he's great with the nieces and nephews and he hasn't chewed through the furniture (yet).

p.s. I tried to get a picture with out him being excited... but couldn't get one! More to come!
